blood.

i have a very elementary interest in most things.

upon arriving home at 11pm to call it an early night, my dad told me to take a shower to clear my sinuses and fall asleep easier. i said fuck that i'm going to bed. well that didn't work. after tossing and turning on the new bomb pillows my mom bought, i got up and hopped into the shower.

the shower hella woke me up. the recent hot and dry weather (in socal) mixed with my way congested cold means party time to the weak ass blood vessels en mi nariz. the profuse blowing of my nose led to bloody noses all damn day. blowing my nose into my hands in the shower is rad. i'm a huge fan of different colors/textures/consistencies and so looking at that stuff gets me hella stoked.

so as i love to do when i'm sick, i was blowing the shit outta my nose. lo and behold, the blood came out gushing. i allowed it to just fall onto the porcelain floor of the tub below me, splashing and mixing with the water int he tub. it was coming down at a rate of like one drop every 1.5 seconds. fascinating! i watched the way the blood would splatter and mix with the water on the floor, the way the blood would mix with water running down my face before hitting the floor.

then i got down on my hands and knees, shaking my head back and forth from left to right over the angled back of the bath tub. since the tub was drier higher up in the basin, my blood would hit more directly. it would then splatter and run in a different way when momentum was added into the equation. the different blood splots would run together like a river basin, getting more and more diluted as it approached the wetter lower spots, eventually joining the water filling the tub from the shower head.

i decided that was enough of the blood letting so i wiped my nose like you would if you were in class with a runny nose (and hella gross like i am), dragging it down the length of your hand in one motion. the blood just covered my hand. it was rad. it would seep into the crevices of my knuckles and become more diluted the further it was away from the line i had dragged across. then i stuck the tip of my finger up my nose and watched the blood seeping around my fingernail, contrasting the jade of my nail polish. upon rinsing, the subtle iridescent sparkle of the nail color came through from behind the bright red of the blood.

finally, i pinched my nose with my head down (as one should. as opposed to up, which is gross) to stop the bleeding and carried on with my shower. i have a hard time not picking at things, so i stuck my finger up my nose again and felt this huge chunk of clotted blood, which i then pulled out. dunno why but it grossed me out at first. then i picked it back up and i was interested again. it was really solid, i was impressed. good job, body! it's pretty amazing how the body can heal itself, and so fast. the clot was pretty sizable and pretty - super translucent, which i would not have expected.

so for the first time in a long time, i remembered to take pleasure in the simple awe-inspiring happs of every day life. stuff we are blessed to be able to experience as conscious, living beings with the ability to process and appreciate such things. it would make for a rad photo essay or something, if only i would invest the time and money into such thangs. well, off to bed i go. very satisfied, feeling a spectacularly renewed sense of inspiration i had been missing.

stay curious.
